September 7-September 8, 2016 – I was seeing a movie that was about 2 and a half hours long. Later, I was watching a new Batman movie in the same theatre. It was a theatre I had never been to before. It was probably in Brooklyn, but it also had a suburban feel. The movie was 2 hours and 10 minutes, a little short for a Batman flick. The movie ended, the lights came up completely, and we started filing out. I took a side exit. There were a couple of middle-aged women gabbing with each other. It was the middle of the afternoon. I went to the bathroom. There was a long line.

April 24, 2016-April 25, 2016 – I was listening to a podcast hosted by Kevin Corrigan. My brother was about to come on and discuss “Cool Stuff” – a radio show that he hosted with his friend when they were about 10 or 11. So it turned out that “Cool Stuff” was a segment of Kevin’s podcast. So this was in the 90’s. I wondered if my brother was still going to declare Batman & Robin the movie of the year. I was walking from 20th to 30th Street in Manhattan while listening. I was watching Batman Returns. The beginning took place right after the first one ended. Batman was in the hospital. The scene was in the waiting room. Catwoman (played by Anne Hathaway) arrived. She was in costume. Batman’s girlfriend (played by Lena Dunaham), who was dressed like Batman, had just checked on him and told Catwoman what was going on. There was a couple sitting down who were also wearing Batman-style outfits. Daredevil (played by Ben Affleck) was also in the movie. It cut to a scene in which he was on top of a skyscraper at night. He jumped down and landed on a thin structure jutting out from the side of a building, which somehow did not hurt his legs. The girl sitting next to me in the theater (who kind of looked like one one my grad school friends) said, “Whoa.”

March 27, 2016-March 28, 2016 – I was going to see Batman v. Superman with Rob. I was in the theatre by myself for much of the beginning. There was a sequence with Superman, and a sequence with Batman that was entirely unrelated. Then there was a scene with a woman in the hospital. Her family gathered around her. The woman was in the bed, and her family members were standing and posing. It looked like they were about to break out into a set piece. All the women looked the same. I realized that this was the introduction of Wonder Woman.

October 15, 2015-October 16, 2016 – I was hanging out at home on Saturday night. Everyone else – family, friends – was out. I looked up movie showtimes. The new Dark Knight was out. It was also playing on TNT right now. So I turned it on. But then I decided I would rather watch it at the theatre, so I turned it off after about 10 minutes. I looked at the showtimes some more. I was surprised to see that Mulaney was still playing.
