What the Flip?

April 23, 2013-April 24, 2013 – I had a new phone.  It was a flip phone.  I walked into my room and sat down at my desk.  I was wondering why my new phone was a flip phone.  I still had my smartphone, and it seemed to still be receiving texts.  I checked if my flip phone was, too.  It wasn’t now, but I remembered getting one earlier.  I had only entered one or two contacts into this phone, but all my old contacts seemed to have been automatically transferred over.

October 25, 2013-October 26, 2013 – I was watching the Season 5 premiere of Community.  It started with a monologue about re-taking ownership – it was very clearly a metaphor for Dan Harmon coming back to the show.  Jeff, Troy, and Abed were there as the monologue was being read (I’m not sure who was reading it).  I was looking at the text of the monologue as it was being read.  It was one long block on one piece of paper and apparently this was the whole episode.  I was enjoying this very meta moment a lot.  The rest of the episode was the group hanging out and talking back and forth.  It was enjoyable, but a little disappointing, because it didn’t feel that BIG.  During the commercial break, I went to the bathroom and thought about doing something else as well.  I had a feeling this break wasn’t going to last very long, so I couldn’t spend very long doing anything.  Then I noticed a comment on The A.V. Club linking to a report saying that the first episode was setting the record for shortest commercial breaks and the second episode was setting the record for longest commercial breaks.  In the first scene back from the commercial, Jeff had just arrived on campus and was walking to class.  The new professor – played by Malcolm McDowell – ran into him and started talking to him.  He reminded me  of Malcolm McDowell (in the context of the dream, they were somehow two different actors), but this character seemed more promising.  Jeff looked annoyed.

Punishment

February 2, 2013-February 3, 2013 – I was standing on the road right in front of a house, talking to people, taking care of some problem.  There were several people in the town involved in this situation.  I was talking to one main guy, and then he had to go off somewhere else.  There was this one mentally handicapped guy hanging around.  He was also gay.  He walked by, then started walking away.  I was about to talk to another guy.  The gay guy seemed to have a crush on this guy, who was not gay.  I had a suspicion that the gay guy had a way of punishing those who didn’t requite his crushes.  He walked up to the guy, grabbed him, and then he wielded a weed-whacker like he was going to rip his face off with it.  I froze.  Then I determined that I better just run away.  So I ran uphill on this street.

May 18, 2012-May 19, 2012 – I was looking over the Friday box office results on Boxofficemojo.com.  The Avengers had a really good hold from the Friday before, making about $28 million – I was sure that was definitely less than a 50% drop from last Friday.  Whatever was in second place (Battleship, I guess) had only made about $9 million.  I checked last Friday’s numbers and saw that The Avengers had made about $36 million that day, so it was obviously a very good hold from Friday to Friday.

F Town

December 4, 2011-December 5, 2011 – I was watching the final episode of Arrested Development on IFC.  It was the last of several episodes being shown back-to-back.  It was around 2:00.  This episode ended with someone walking downhill on a cramped city street.  Then the opening sequence of the show ran.  It ended with Molly Shannon being mentioned as a member of the cast, as she was a guest on this episode.  Then I was the guy who was walking on the street; I had now turned around and headed back uphill.  I was looking to get into this town in Connecticut that started with an “F.”  We were in New York, so that Connecticut town was the next town over.  I stopped by a house behind a tall fence and asked the guy living there how to get to that town.  There was a kid on the roof as well.  They told me that I wouldn’t be able to get into that town.  I was thinking that I would need my passport, as I would be crossing state lines.  But I didn’t need a passport for that, so I continued looking for a way there.

Kicking Around Thoughts

April 22, 2013-April 23, 2013 – I was walking around a field, kicking a yellow ball.  It was like I was walking around the perimeter of a soccer field.  I was thinking about how in Dirty Projectors Amber Coffman was a sometimes vocalist and a sometimes guitarist, but there was one other instrument she played.  Piccolo, maybe?  Then I was thinking about how my friend was one of the best teachers at his school, or one of the best mid-grade teachers, or one of the best teachers in some category.

Really? You Really Like Me?

January 26, 2013-January 27, 2013 – I was checking in for something that I was participating in or had been chosen for.  After having been there for a while, I went downstairs and checked in with the guy at the front window in the corner of the lobby.  I had been nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars.  I knew I had been good, but I couldn’t remember what movie(s) I had been in.  I was thinking of myself and Bradley Cooper: I remembered Bradley’s film, but I couldn’t remember mine.  I ran over to the front door of my house as my aunt was walking out so that I could ask her about me and Bradley.  She answered me and then left.  I started to wonder if I had actually been in two (or any) movies last year.
